Former CGA student Primerose Achieng led her secondary school to the National Championship in girls basketball. In her first three years she helped her team reach the final game, but came up short. In her final year of high school she finally accomplished her goal. In all of the preliminary games and in the semifinal, her team, Shimba Hills, scored over 100 points and defeated their opponents by margins of around 60-80 points. The Championship game was no different as they blew away Buru Buru Girls from Nairobi by a similar margin.
Primerose learned how to play basketball in primary school at CGA and excelled in other sports like football and track and field while at CGA. After joining secondary school she decided to concentrate on her biggest love, basketball. She is a fast and aggressive playmaker who runs the team on both the offensive and defensive end. At Shimba Hills she is blessed with many big girls to deliver passes to.
Shimba Hills has now qualified to represent Kenya in the East African Games in Burundi in late August.
